W2W (Waste to Wealth)
Economic development, urbanization and consumerism have accelerated waste generation worldwide. Current global Municipal Solid Waste generation levels are approximately 1.3 billion tonnes per year, and are expected to increase to approximately 2.2 billion tonnes per year by 2025. India produces approximately 61 million tons of Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) per annum. This waste could be converted into wealth through the means of: compost, recyclables and RDF (residue derived fuel) etc. Although growing waste is becoming a challenge but BVG took this as an opportunity to repay its debt to the society by looking at waste as a ‘resource’ and created a new business vertical ‘Waste to Wealth’.
